To the Leaders

Posted on:
This one goes out to all my leaders, advocates, activists, movers and shakers who time and time again give themselves…. ALL OF THEMSELVES to the community!!
Don’t forget to take time for you!! EVERYONE will understand… and if they don’t they are NOT for you!! Take it from someone who has children, had 3 jobs and business and still managed to volunteer 40+ hours a week!!
From someone who had to learn recently that it’s ok to say no to maintain sanity!!
From someone who still struggles with saying no!!
From someone who is currently on call 24/7 365 for the community and never had once complained.
From someone who barely has someone ask “Are you ok?”
From someone who had to learn to ask themselves that same question.
Remember burn out is real… and the fight that you are fighting will still need to be fought after you disconnect!!
We need you sis!!
We need you bro!!
We need you sib!!
And if no one has told you THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU or that YOU ARE APPRECIATED… know that I did and do!!

Her True Character as a Leader There are moments in both our professional and personal lives that we may meet an individual that refeuls and redefines the mission for us. Lo has been one of those individuals for me. Watching her work consistently to make sure all narratives were seen heard and represented shows her true character as a leader, mentor, and community member. Thank you, Lo, for breaking the word community apart, and redefining what “come in unity” looks like.

An Incredible Asset to the Houston Community Lo Moton Roberts has been an incredible asset to the Houston community. So incredible, that I almost can’t put it into words. Lo has done incredible work around diversity and inclusion even within the LGBTQ community. Lo has made way to be inclusive, innovative and creative in the way that people like myself and others are represented. I fully recommend Lo for any event centered around diversity and inclusion, community engagement, and building community infastructure.

Linda J. DeMarco, CoPresident- InterPride- World Pride Association I have been volunteering in the Pride movement for over 23 years and Lo is one of the brightest up and coming activists and organizers I have seen in years.  Lo’s passion and commitment to the Pride movement is not only with Houston but worldwide.  I love working with Lo! She brings a young honest and true voice that is needed in a movement that has evolved over the years.  I looked forward to what comes next with Lo involved.
