Anything Is Possible

One word is at the center of Lo’s success:  perseverance. Lo Roberts has persevered through struggles that have caused many to falter.  And it is in those struggles that Lo found her voice, and her mission:

Leader

“I gravitated towards Pride to find a community, and a place to contribute. But destiny pulled me into leadership quickly.  My mission was  to help make Pride Houston more representative and inclusive of marginalized people within the community.”

Mother

“It wasn’t until I became a mother that I started to want to do more.. I wanted to set an example of being true to yourself, and not letting anything stand in the way, in spite of circumstances.”

Teacher

“I come from a family of educators. When I began teaching at a charter school, I found I had a natural ability to connect and communicate, even in difficult situations”

Nurse

“ As a nurse, I witnessed a great deal of disparity in health access and rights, especially dealing with LGBTQ+ people of color. I knew I needed to be an advocate for those that had none.”

Entrepreneur

“Much of what I have accomplished, began from sheer survival instincts. You learn to use every asset and opportunity you have. For me, that meant tapping into my creative instincts and creating a lifestyle brand.

Survivor

“From having a child at a young age, overcoming domestic abuse, and nearly losing complete contact with my family to becoming the first woman of color President of Pride Houston, human rights speaker, and LGBTQ+ advocate– I’ve learned to squeeze everything I can out of every day so my kids can wake up in a world that is a little brighter than the day before.”

Lo’s mission is to be a voice, leader and advocate for those who feel powerless, and to inspire love every step of the way, every day.

Linda J. DeMarco, CoPresident- InterPride- World Pride Association I have been volunteering in the Pride movement for over 23 years and Lo is one of the brightest up and coming activists and organizers I have seen in years.  Lo’s passion and commitment to the Pride movement is not only with Houston but worldwide.  I love working with Lo! She brings a young honest and true voice that is needed in a movement that has evolved over the years.  I looked forward to what comes next with Lo involved.

Her True Character as a Leader There are moments in both our professional and personal lives that we may meet an individual that refeuls and redefines the mission for us. Lo has been one of those individuals for me. Watching her work consistently to make sure all narratives were seen heard and represented shows her true character as a leader, mentor, and community member. Thank you, Lo, for breaking the word community apart, and redefining what “come in unity” looks like.

An Incredible Asset to the Houston Community Lo Moton Roberts has been an incredible asset to the Houston community. So incredible, that I almost can’t put it into words. Lo has done incredible work around diversity and inclusion even within the LGBTQ community. Lo has made way to be inclusive, innovative and creative in the way that people like myself and others are represented. I fully recommend Lo for any event centered around diversity and inclusion, community engagement, and building community infastructure.
